The changes reorganized the groupings/subgroupings into a single numeric list.  

• What was Phase 1A (front line healthcare/long term care workers) was renamed Group 1

• What was Phase 1B Group 1 (older adults) was expanded to include those 65 and older and renamed Group 2.  

• What were Phase 1B Group 2 (essential workers over 50) and 1B Group3 (essential workers under 50) are combined into a single group (Group 3).  So, educators (both those over 50 and those under 50) are now together in Group 3

• Students* are no longer a "priority group" and are in the general population (Group 5).

Groups 1 (Frontline health workers) and 2 (adults 65 & older) are open in Mecklenburg County.  Given the expansion of Group 2, the constraints on the supply, and slow ramp up, they have not offered an estimate of when Group 3 might open.  

 

*The vaccines are not yet approved for those under 16 (Pfizer) or 18 (Moderna), so the timeline for those under 16 might be even later.

>Complete the screening form and you'll be notified when appointments open for your group (Phase 1B Group 2 for educators over 50)

The Health Department site has information and links to creating an account to register/schedule online and information about a telephone hotline. [Note- the hotline crashed due to volume on the first day, so the online account might be the faster way]

*Due to cold chain requirements for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, the vaccines likely will be administered at select hospitals or select facilities, not necessarily through your primary care provider's office. The Health Department is administering vaccines at Bojangles Coliseum on Independence Blvd.
