Elaine Jones serves as the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Atrium Health University City where she oversees both inpatient and outpatient nutritional services. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from Texas Christian University in 1991, she went on to practice nutrition in Germany, Texas and North Carolina. Through her many moves and experiences in different hospital systems and cultures, she developed a passion for community nutrition. She started the first hospital Summer Food Service Program in North Carolina in 2018 at University called Kids Eat Free and she plans to bring on additional hospital sites annually. Her efforts are now focused on opening the University Nutrition and Wellness Center at Atrium Health University City which will house a Food Pharmacy to address food insecurity and chronic disease management. She looks forward to helping families in the greater Charlotte Mecklenburg County area find solutions to their dietary, health and hunger challenges.
